What is Thymulin?

Research interest in thymulin centers on T-cell differentiation and the neuroendocrine-immune axis. Circulating thymulin declines steeply with age in parallel with thymic involution, making it a marker - and candidate mediator - of immunosenescence. Studies have explored its roles in T-cell maturation, cytokine balance, pain and inflammation models, and even ovarian function. Because activity requires zinc coordination, research preparations must account for the metal-binding state.
