Thymosin Beta-4: Research Profile, Dosages & Supplier Prices

Repair / recovery research · Lyophilized powder · Also known as: TB4, TMSB4X, full-length Thymosin Beta 4

Thymosin Beta-4 is a repair / recovery research compound with a molecular weight of 4963.5 g/mol and a research half-life of ~2-3 hours (plasma). Thymosin Beta-4 is a naturally occurring 43-amino-acid peptide found in virtually all human and animal cells, where it serves as the principal intracellular actin-sequestering protein. It is the parent molecule of the popular research fragment TB-500, which corresponds to the active LKKTETQ region of the full-length protein.

What is Thymosin Beta-4?

In preclinical research, Thymosin Beta-4 has been studied across wound healing, cardiac repair after infarction, corneal injury, and fibrosis models. Its biological roles include actin dynamics regulation, cell migration, angiogenesis promotion, and anti-inflammatory signaling. Because the full 43-aa chain is harder and more expensive to synthesize than the TB-500 fragment, it is less commonly stocked - and more commonly counterfeited - making third-party COAs especially important for this compound.

Mechanism of Action (Research Context)

Binds monomeric G-actin in a 1:1 complex, regulating actin polymerization and cytoskeletal dynamics. Promotes cell migration and differentiation, stimulates angiogenesis via VEGF-independent pathways, and modulates inflammatory cytokine release. The LKKTETQ motif (residues 17-23) is considered the primary bioactive region.

Thymosin Beta-4 Dosages in Research

2mg5mg10mg vials

Animal wound-healing and cardiac studies have used a wide range of doses, typically micrograms per kilogram. Full-length TB4 is roughly 10x the molecular weight of the TB-500 fragment, so mass-equivalent dosing differs substantially. Research-context only.

Storage & Handling

Lyophilized: -20C, desiccated, protected from light. Reconstituted: 2-8C, use within 2-3 weeks. The 43-aa chain is oxidation-sensitive at its methionine residue - avoid repeated freeze-thaw.

Thymosin Beta-4 FAQ

TB-500 is a short synthetic fragment containing the active LKKTETQ region of full-length Thymosin Beta-4 (43 amino acids). TB-500 is cheaper to synthesize and far more common; genuine full-length TB4 should show ~4963 Da on mass spec.
Demand a batch-specific third-party COA with mass spectrometry showing 4963.5 Da. Many vendors sell the TB-500 fragment mislabeled as full TB4 because the fragment is far cheaper to produce.
Preclinical research covers dermal wound healing, cardiac tissue repair after myocardial infarction, corneal repair, and anti-fibrotic effects. It remains a research-use-only compound outside clinical trials.
