LL-37: Research Profile, Dosages & Supplier Prices

Immune research · Lyophilized powder · Also known as: hCAP-18 fragment, Cathelicidin LL-37

LL-37 is a immune research compound with a molecular weight of 4493.3 g/mol and a research half-life of short (rapid proteolytic turnover). LL-37 is the only human member of the cathelicidin family of antimicrobial peptides - a 37-amino-acid alpha-helical peptide cleaved from the hCAP-18 precursor protein. It is produced by neutrophils, epithelial cells and keratinocytes and serves as a first-line innate immune effector with direct broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses.

What is LL-37?

Beyond direct pathogen killing, LL-37 is heavily studied as an immune modulator: it chemoattracts immune cells, neutralizes bacterial endotoxin (LPS), modulates TLR signaling, and influences wound healing and angiogenesis. Research spans infection models, biofilm disruption, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis (where LL-37 is implicated as an autoantigen), and even cancer biology. Its dual pro- and anti-inflammatory behavior makes it one of the more context-dependent peptides in the research catalog.

Mechanism of Action (Research Context)

Amphipathic alpha-helix inserts into and disrupts microbial membranes (carpet/toroidal-pore models). Binds and neutralizes LPS. Immunomodulatory actions via FPRL-1/FPR2, P2X7 and EGFR transactivation; chemotactic for neutrophils, monocytes and T cells.

LL-37 FAQ

Primarily innate immunity: direct antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity, LPS neutralization, immune cell recruitment, and wound repair. It is also studied in psoriasis and IBD because of its role in inflammatory signaling.
Both, depending on context - it neutralizes endotoxin and can dampen TLR responses, yet acts as an alarmin and autoantigen in psoriasis models. This context-dependence is a major research theme.
98%+ HPLC purity and mass spec identity at 4493.3 Da. Aggregation in solution is normal for this peptide and does not itself indicate impurity.
